A Little Bit of Madness - Sheryl Browne

Where is the most romantic place in the world?

Sheryl’s answer:

The Far East, definitely, Bali in particular.  I love the culture, the tradition, the people, the climate!

What all the best-dressed girls in the Far East are wearing:

But, you know, if we stop to look, we do have some of the most romantic countryside closer to home.

What all the best-dressed girls in the UK are wearing:

Carol's answer:

I have yet to find the most romantic place in the world.  I am afraid I have not travelled very far.

The furthest I have been so far, is Fuerteventura.  I would have to say that is the most romantic place to date, as it was my first holiday abroad with my gorgeous husband and the children.

It was the first time the children and I had flown.  I actually cried when we landed in Fuerteventura.

My husband and I relaxing in Fuerteventura

My son M and me at the top of a mountain.(hence the hairstyle)
That is fear on my face as we are parked up to the edge!
We had a chauffeur to take us on a 2 hour trike tour to a restaurant on the top of
a mountain.  It was one hairy ride as I have a fear of heights at the best of times
let alone when I am on the back of a trike!

That model looks familiar!

  1. Great post!! Oh the most romantic place in the world? Hmmm. I'm not that well travelled either but I have found two wonderful places. I adored Rome. It was the first foreign holiday I went on with OH and spent the entire time worrying he was going to propose! He didn't! The ultimate romantic place for me was Malta where we went on our honeymoon after he got around to proposing lol. I actually cried when it was time to go home! lol.

    1. Awwww, JB! Were you worrying that he would (and you wouldn't) or that he wouldn't - and you WOULD?? If you get my drift. More stuff for your book here, I reckon. Bless his socks. Now I want a honeymoon!! Not fussed about the man... Haw, haw! Love it! Thanks for stopping by! :) xx

  2. OMGod! On top of a mountain - on a motorbike?! With your son at the wheel?! No wonder your hair is standing on end. On balance (forgive pun!), I think the snake might be safer! Love it! THANK you so much for hosting me today, Carol. Really, really appreciated! :) xx

    1. Hi Sheryl,
Congrats on the fab cover for A Little Bit of Madness.
That cover girl just looks so familiar :)

M was only posing on the trike for that photo. He didn't drive it. Good grief I would not be there if he had! LOL

It is a pleasure and an honour to have you on the blog again, Sheryl.

  3. I love all the photos - fab!

I haven't actually been abroad with my hubby yet (we're taking a family trip to Florida later on this year) so from the UK I have to say that the Lake District was the most romantic for me. The views were incredible and it had such a lovely, romantic atmosphere :)

    1. Awww, we went walking in the Lake District - got lost! Not quite so romantic. We were staying in a small hotel and at dinner an American gentleman asked, 'Does anyone here have fire arms in their house?' I said, yes. 'You do?' he aksed, surprised. 'Yes,' I said merrily. 'We got one on the ceiling in the hall, one on the landing and one on...' Um, I thought he said FIRE ALARMS! #ambitdense

    2. There are lots of UK beauty spots I have yet to visit, too.
The Lakes is an area I havent visited. I know it is very popular.

  5. I must admit that I love to travel and as soon as my Mr JH and I were married we started saving up for our first holiday abroad together. We've made travel to far flung places a priority in our lives ever since. The most romantic place in the world for me was standing on a beach at midnight with my lovely husband on an island in the Maldives - when it was a clear still and starry night and very dark; the whole beach was glittering with tiny blue fluorescent plankton. It looked like there were stars on the beach, in the ocean, and in the heavens. I’ll never forget it as long as I live. It was so very romantic!

    2. That sounds very romantic, Janice :)
Although there must be some very romantic places closer to home in Scotland. I loved The Highlands and want to go back soon.

  6. Fab question + answers :) I'm cheating in my answer as it's not one particular place ... It's a cruise in the Med. All the places we stopped were romantic!

Sounds like you challenged yourself on your first trip Carol. Thank you for being a part of the tour.

    1. OMGosh. I have a tale to tell there, too. I got ill - they airlifted me off the ship!!! At midnight! Eeek! However, I would totally agree, a cruise in the Med would do it for me every time - with Clooney. And if he doesn't hurry up and make it official, it'll just have to be Ben Affleck - again. ;) Thanks so much for stopping by, sweetie! :) xx

    2. A pleasure to be part of the tour, Sharon.

Yes, it was quite a challenging trip. LOL

Hubby wants to cruise. With my fear of heights and deep water it is one challenging trip too far LOL

      Sheryl,
That must have been very frightening!

    3. For the air-rescue service it was. I was bare-faced!! Eeek! :) xx

    4. Carol, could you do a mini cruise? Definitely recommend.

Sheryl, airlift? Yikes. We did have a death on board ... and the Bay of Lions was horrendous with Gale Force 10 winds. Very scary. They've changed the route now!

I would definitely do it again! But it was a holiday of a lifetime in 2005. Memories :) x

    5. Airlifted Sheryl? hahahahaahaha! Drama queen! lol. Your life is like a soap opera!

    6. Oooh, a mini cruise! What a fab idea!! Do they have air to sea rescue, though?? ;) JB, you know I have a bit of a thing about uniforms. What can I say? Haw, haw. Better get the make-up tattooed on, just in case! :) xx

  7. brilliant question and answers - and I love the picture of the hair on end on mountain :)
most romantic place... hum, that has go to have been that little cabin we rented in New Mexico, overlooking the deserted landscape, just the two of us + dog, sunset... yep, that's it :)

    1. And no internet connection?! Yay! Ooooh, that's my idea of a romantic abode, Kim - a place where the world can't reach you and you can make time just for you + dog(s)! Love it! :) xx

    2. Thanks Kim. Crash helmet hairstyle LOL

      New Mexico hideout sounds fab.

  8. Most Romantic place Scarborough North Yorkshire, best Fish& Chips too. Eaten in the open air along the beach! (You can take the girl out of Yorkshire, but you can't take Yorkshire out of the girl) lolx
Great post and yes your model is looking more and more familiar ... was she in Emmerdale? lol x

    1. Yay! Fish and chips on the beach! Heaven! I much prefer it out in the open, too, Nikki. Noooo, I mean the fish & chip supper! Haw, haw!

Yep, Emmerdale, Eastenders... You name it. She's in popular demand, y'know! Lover her! Thanks so much, Nikki! :) xx

  9. Whoop! Another great post on this Cover Reveal blog tour. Love the photos and the excerpt. A Little Bit of Madness is on my TBR, bring it out, quick!!

The most romantic place in the world... For me, is the Lewinnick Lodge Restaurant in Newquay. It's a gorgeous restaurant tucked right onto a headland overlooking the sea and Fistral bay, and in the evening you can sit on the deck, watch the sun go down while sipping wine, with little candles on the tables illuminating you and your... romantic date. Honestly, on a fabulous summer's day I can't think of a more romantic place to hang out.

Good luck with the date... err, tour!!! XX

  10. Aww, Nicky - I hope it was your hubby the candles were illuminating, not ... a certain rock star! What date??? Shhhh. Don't breathe a word. Clooney's shy, y'know! Thanks for stopping by, sweetie! :) xx

  11. Loved the post and photos! And I agree with Nikki - Yorkshire is one of the most romantic places. I live in Saltaire, which is a beautiful old mill town and a most romantic village. Hard to pick my most romantic location of all, though, but the Scottish Highlands have to be up there.
Good luck with the tour and congratulations on your contract!

    1. Thank you, Helena! You are so right. Sometimes, we really do not see the beauty and romance in our own surroundings. The Scottish Highlands is most definitely up there. Now, do men in kilts count as men in uniform? Um... Hmmm? Well, now you come to mention it... :) xx

    2. Helena,
I loved The Highlands, too. Cannot wait to go back. Long drive for us, 12 hours!

      Sheryl,
Is that a lightbulb moment for another 'men in uniform' novel set in The Highlands? LOL

    1. FAB, thank you, Linn! I think Fiction Addiction Book Tours and my lovely hosts have come up trumps! Love it! Thanks so much for stopping by! I don't mind heights actually. Did I ever tell you about the time we (my man & I) were in an open-air cable car going over the mountains? I said, oooh, isn't the view gorgeous, and stood up - and had a little swing on the supporting bar. He said, I suffer from vertigo! Oh. Ooops. #earlydays :) xx

      Delete
    2. Yes, that was a very nervous smile as I posed for that photo, Linn.

Sheryl, remind me never to get into a cable car with you :)
Better still remind me never to get into a cable car!

  16. Loving this post, isn't it true that anywhere with our beloveds is the most romantic of places? However, location wise, a bit of a cliche I know but for me it has to be Venice.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ahhh, Venice. I remember it as being everything you imagine Venice to be. Unfortunately, we only passed through on my unforgettable cruise. Was supposed stop on the way back, but they whisked me off in a helicopter instead (please see above). Not so romantic! Maybe I'll get to go back one day, minus the dramatics! Thanks so much for stopping by, Petty! :) xx
